Special Event

Class Excursion

Wednesday July 3rd

5.30 pm

Mildura Arts Centre

When eleven-year-old Juniper May receives a petition signed by her entire class stating that she is ‘the most hated person in the school’ her life is thrown into complete meltdown. Juniper stops eating, she refuses to return to school and her parents become increasingly desperate. Finally, after exhausting all other avenues her parents’ resort to the only thing they have left, a giant singing robot.

Based on a true story, Robot Song illustrates the profound, transformative nature of creativity that when combined with unconditional love, becomes an unstoppable force

Robot Song is an honest, intensely funny and often unconventional window into writer, director Jolyon James’ experience parenting a child on the Autism Spectrum.

Hi! My name is Joanne Dooley (call me Jo) and I am really excited about working with your child this year while they explore the wonders of drama. I have just moved to Mildura from Kalgoorlie Boulder in Western Australia. I have been teaching for 14 years in Western Australian primary schools and have been heavily involved in the Arts in Kalgoorlie Boulder. I was a member of Stage Left Theatre Troupe for nine years. During that time I was an actor, director, stage manager, Front of House Manager, secretary, Vice President, President and youth drama teacher. I love to see my students develop their skills and grow in confidence, which can be achieved by having fun and working with like-minded people.
